Michael Sobel

Partner in New York

Michael Sobel represents developers, owners, operators, managers, and tenants in a broad range of commercial real estate transactions. He concentrates on the representation of landlords and tenants in retail, office, and mixed-use commercial leasing transactions, and buyers and sellers in the acquisition and sale of office and retail properties. His significant experience with parties on both sides of transactions affords him keen understanding and foresight which he applies in service to clients.

Michael’s clients include major local and national developers, owner/operators, a national chain fitness center, national hotel groups, high-end design companies, local business owners, foreign corporations with national real estate portfolios, and financial institutions with nationwide retail locations. He frequently represents New York City artists and theaters comprising the independent theatre community on a pro bono basis and is part of the real estate collective at Indie Space. 

Michael began his career at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP. He then worked at Rockwood Realty and Modell’s Sporting Goods before joining Wilk Auslander in 2007.

  • A national developer, owner, and operator of urban retail projects of approximately 1.5 million square feet throughout the Northeast Corridor in the leasing of its entire portfolio.
  • A hotel owner and management company, with a 15-hotel portfolio in the New York metropolitan area, in the leasing of all its retail operations and arrangement of its hotel contracts.
  • A national high-end design company in the leasing of its New York headquarters and design centers nationwide.
